I just took a reference photo of the original photo and then started from zero on a blank canvas on PSD.

The first thing I notice is how soft and tender this child appears, so you certainly achieved that for which you worked so hard! The mouth catches my eye--just the way the lips and tongue look wet, the way all babies' mouths do, especially when they're smiling! The eyes are so beautiful--alert, happy--and the softness of the hair and skin are so palpable; the palette is beautiful too, with the soft blue setting off the gentle warmth of the skin... What a fabulous gift to your mother--I know she must have cried with joy when she saw this! I find children and infants very difficult to draw--this is a stunning piece!

Children and infants are indeed very hard to draw. I did one of my father recently, I'll b posting it soon I think; it was complicated to do. I guess that what I find hardest is to transmit the purity, the unblemished heart and soul. Children are so special that is hard to catch it in paper (or computer).
Thank you again, and thank you so much for the favorite. I feel very flattered!
